About

Understand how the modern world is built, what constrains it, and what becomes possible when those constraints are removed.

Modern Engineer is an independent publication about the machines, systems, materials, and ideas that shape technological progress. Its recurring structure is the same in every story: a constraint, the struggle against it, the breakthrough, the consequence, and the new constraint that follows.

Three sections, one thesis

Computing is how thinking became machinery and what changes when it gets cheap. Abundance is what scarcity built and what its lifting will unmake. Society is work, creation, and memory in the years when machines learn to do most of it.

Corrections

Corrections are made on the story itself, dated, with the original wording shown. Nothing is silently edited after publication. If something here is wrong, say so and it gets fixed with credit to whoever caught it.
